Cherry Pie Song Card

Happy Folk Song Friday! Today’s folk song is getting us in the mood for my personal favorite part of any Thanksgiving feast–the pie!

This is such a simple little song I would usually use in first grade to practice sol-mi and quarter/eighth reading. Because of these basic elements, this is a song they can read and write all on their own! For younger kids, just singing and playing the simple game is such a fun activity.

As I mentioned, this game is fairly simple, but because the kids get a chance to use their imaginations, it is a truly delightful experience. I love hearing all the creative varieties of pies kids come up with (some sound really yummy, and some make me want to throw up a little bit! haha!)

I’ll have a little printable activity to go with this next week, so be sure to check back here for another free resource. And then I’ll have one more Thanksgiving themed folk song before taking a little time off for the holiday weekend, and then it’s on to CHRISTMAS! (To be completely transparent, I’m a put your tree up the day after Halloween gal myself, but I’ve been trying hard to not let my personal preference interfere with the wonderful Thanksgiving activities that we can do before then!)
