El Reloj De La Calavera Play Set

Hey there! My kids are out of school for Fall Break and we’ve had all sorts of fall fun, including a beautiful nature walk and leaf hunt up the canyon by our house today! It was really special. But between that and sewing up Halloween costumes, and planning for our annual family Halloween party happening on Sunday I feel like I’ve been MIA here and on my IG this week!

I wanted to pop in quickly to share a fun print and play set to act out the different verses in our folk song of the week, El Reloj De La Calavera (Learn the folk song and get your free song card here). I illustrated a 3D grandfather clock and a skeleton with mini-brad joints so that you can have all sorts of fun singing and playing through the song! I love that the skeleton can actually climb out of the clock, like in the song! If the playset was bigger I think it would also be fun to have moveable hands on the clock, but I was constrained by the size of the page. Maybe you could include a learning clock so you could move the time to the different hours as the song goes on, integrating some math work into the play!

Instructions on how to print, assemble, and play are included in the download. Let me know if you give it a try! I’ve had a lot of fun sharing spooky folk songs for the month of October, and I’m planning on sharing another tomorrow, so make sure to check back here then!
