Okay friends, I think this might be the last little activity up my sleeve for the folk song Fall is here. Have you checked out the other posts in this little series? Fall Is Here Song Card Fall Is Here Ideograph Fall Is Here Finger Puppets
Isn’t it amazing all the detail and instruction we can extract from such a simple little folk song? It never ceases to amaze me.
Today’s download is perfect for examining comprehension–perfect for an ELA-integrated lesson, or to just generally check for comprehension. After singing through the ideograph, cut out the pieces of the puzzle (download located at the bottom of this post). Mix them up and set them on a tray with the ideograph and song card. Can your child/students rearrange the cards to be in the right order? Have them sing through the song to check their work!
It’s incredible to me how much children absorb, especially after detailed work/practice with the ideograph, because even pre-readers like my 3yo can complete this activity, matching the pictures to the words in the song. That is some incredibly deep work going on in their incredible minds! Never ever underestimate a child, or the power of a folk song.
Happy singing!
