I feel like I’m sneaking these cards in at the last second before the next Folk Song Friday post, because that’s just how everything feels like it’s going at the minute! This quarter of the year is BUSY, and we’ve been in full-on Halloween memory making mode (which is so cozy and fun!) I hope this season has been good to you, and that you’re enjoying these spooky little songs and activities I’ve been sharing. Kids just have so much fun this time of year, and sharing folk songs about Halloween and (not-so-) spooky things with the kids is just so fun.
Today I’m sharing a set of vocal play cards to go along with the folk song of the week, Ghost of Tom (Get the free song card here)[/resources/ghostoftomsongcard/]. Vocal play is so important for creating and maintaining vocal flexibility, range, light tone, and preparing for in-tune singing. It’s really the MVP of the early music education years! I always try to include at least one opportunity for vocal play in each lesson, and playing around with our voices like our ghost friend Tom is just too fun!
I’ve included both color and black and white versions of the vocal play cards in the file downlaod below. I really think the color version is so fun and vibe-y, but I know printing in color isn’t an option in a lot of schools (which is such a bummer!). Print whichever version of the cards you’d prefer, then cut and laminate if desired!
These cards could be used as a whole class activity, a centers activity, or even as a task card activity! So many options, and I think the kids will just love following along with their ghostly voices to the contoured lines. I hope you enjoy!

Happy singing!
