Teddy Bear Song Card

Happy Folk Song Friday! This week around these parts we’ve been deep in dollhouse-land. We’ve been working on building a dollhouse from a kit and oh my word, I severely underestimated how many steps there would be. It has taken us a long time, but it has been so exciting and rewarding! And it is BEYOND fun to shop for little miniature replicas of everyday items. My goal is to make it the coziest little cottage core dollhouse in all the land.

Stick with me, I promise this is relevant. Because one of the things my three year old and I found for the dollhouse this week were the tiniest little teddy bears! Oh my word, they are so cute! We got them for the kids' room. He’s been having so much fun moving them around the house, and it reminded me of this absolute staple of a childhood song, Teddy Bear!

My kinders and first graders LOVED this song. My kinders could do the actions forever. In first grade we would move on to reading the rhythm, as it is a simple quarter note and eighth note rhythm, with two quarter rests (Which my first graders learn towards the second half of the year). So fun! First and second graders could even begin to recognize the pattern (or form, as we call it in music!) that happens with the phrases. Simple song, endless possibilities. Hmmm, where have I heard that before? 😉

Your children can either play the game with other friends in a circle or they can play with their favorite stuffed friend (Or heck, a hybrid of friends in a circle each holding their own furry friend! Go crazy!). Check out the instructions on the card for how to play this simple game.

Don’t forget to check back in a few days, I have a fun print and play in mind for this one. Until then, have fun and happy singing!
