Well I’m posting this far too late in the evening but I wanted to make sure to get it up before I posted our next Folk Song Friday post. I’ve been trying to print out these cards but my 15 year old printer might be finally calling it quits. Darn!
I was thinking of what we could do as an invitation to play with our folk song “My Nice Red Rosy Apple” (make sure you got the free song card!) and I got thinking about the different ways to cut up an apple and how fun it would be to make a memory matching game out of it! I drew up some different apples, just print two copies and voila! You have a sweet little memory matching game. I included some instructions on the first page of the file, and you’ll see that the match with the star slice is worth double points of course, because it’s the focus of the folk song! The cards can also be used to play Old Maid, and those instructions are also included.
Another way to play with this folk song requires absolutely zero downloading–just find an apple, slice it in half to see the star, and use it as a sweet little stamp with some acrylic paint (or washable paint if your kids are bit more adventurous with art supplies!). You can sing as you stamp, you could use the stamps to make little cards for friends and neighbors, you could stamp a dish cloth or a shirt. Apple stamping is always a hit!
Sorry again for the late post, but thanks for checking in! I hope you enjoy this week’s free download.
